15th Annual MKKI International Gasshuku

MATAYOSHI KOBUDO KODOKAN INTERNATIONAL
San Diego - USA
September 14-16, 2012
The legendary Kodokan Dojo was founded by Shinpo Matayoshi Sensei. Regrettably, Matayoshi Shinpo Sensei passed away on September 7, 1997, at the age of 76. Today, the worldwide leadership for Matayoshi Kobudo is provided by the Matayoshi Family to preserve the art and legacy of Matayoshi Kobudo.
Currently, Seisho Itokazu Sensei is the Chief Instructor of the Kodokan Dojo. He holds the rank of Hachi Dan (8th Dan) in Matayoshi Kobudo and Kyu Dan (9th Dan) in Kounan Ryu Karate (Uechi Ryu). As part of his commitment to spread the art of Matayoshi Kobudo, Itokazu Sensei has visited the United States five times. Sponsored by the Matayoshi Kobudo Kodokan International (MKKI) located in San Diego, Franco Sanguinetti Sensei has invited Itokazu Sensei to the United States on five separate occasions: 1998, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012.
We were very honored this year to have Matayoshi Shinpo Sensei's son, Yasushi Matayoshi Soke, with us on his very first visit to the United States! Students and instructors traveled to California from as far away as Australia to train with Seisho Itokazu Sensei! The United States delegation came from Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois and, of course, California.
